Area Journal

The Journal Area was about architectural competitions. It gave many examples of buildings and the competition to choose their design. It spoke of the key components between the client, the designers, jury and the public. It wrote about how these competitions improved the quality of building designs. Some of the case studies included the central congress of italy, the New York museum of modern art by Bernard Tschumi. For the New York museum of modern art there were three finalists, the winner was decided by the merits such as the site relationship, Multiple spaces that can be used, open courtyards. Overall the Journal gave a detailed insight into the world of architectural competitions. Of importance was the seriousness of such competitions as it can mean the difference between an architecture firm succeeding or failing.
